ACA plans are grouped by how you and your insurer share costs. Every tier covers the same 10 essential health benefits — the difference is your monthly premium versus what you pay when you actually use care. We help you compare all of it at no cost so you can choose the plan that fits best.
Lowest monthly premiums but highest costs when you use care. Best if you're generally healthy and want a safety net for emergencies.
The most commonly chosen tier — and the only tier eligible for Cost-Sharing Reductions, which can dramatically lower what you pay for care if your income qualifies.
Higher monthly cost, but much less out-of-pocket when you use care. Often the smarter pick if you have regular prescriptions or frequent doctor visits.
Highest premiums, minimal out-of-pocket when you use care. Designed for those with significant, predictable medical needs who want to minimize cost uncertainty.
Who Qualifies
Most Idahoans can enroll in ACA marketplace plans. Whether you qualify for subsidies depends on a few straightforward factors, and we help you sort through that at no cost.
U.S. citizens, nationals, and lawfully present immigrants can enroll. Undocumented individuals are not eligible for marketplace plans or subsidies.
You must live in Idaho and enroll through Your Health Idaho — Idaho's own state-based exchange. As a certified broker through Your Health Idaho, we help Idaho residents navigate that process directly.
To qualify for premium tax credits, you generally must not have access to affordable employer-sponsored insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP.
Current federal enhancements make subsidies available at all income levels. Even above 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, you may qualify for some premium reduction.
When to Sign Up
Missing an enrollment window can mean waiting. We help you understand your timing and move through the process the right way.
Idaho follows its own Open Enrollment dates through Your Health Idaho. This is the main annual window to enroll, renew, or switch ACA plans, and we help clients compare options and submit enrollment during that period.
Losing other coverage, getting married, having a child, moving, or gaining citizenship can trigger a SEP. If you have a qualifying event, we help determine eligibility and walk you through the plan change or enrollment.
If your income may qualify for Idaho Medicaid or CHIP, you can apply year-round. We help point people in the right direction when marketplace coverage is not the best fit.

What You'll Pay
Costs vary by tier, age, location within Idaho, and tobacco use. Subsidies can significantly reduce — or eliminate — your actual monthly premium, and we help you compare those numbers at no cost.

| Silver | Moderate (~$400–$600/mo) | $3,500–$6,000/year | Plan pays ~70%; you pay ~30% (CSRs may apply) |

Lowering Your Costs
The ACA's financial assistance programs can dramatically reduce — or eliminate — what you pay for coverage. We help estimate eligibility and compare the real net cost of plans at no cost to you.
The APTC directly reduces your monthly premium — often to as little as $0. It's based on your estimated household income for the coming year and applied in advance when you enroll through Your Health Idaho.
Current federal enhancements removed the old 400% FPL cap, meaning Idahoans at all income levels may qualify for some credit if the unsubsidized benchmark plan exceeds a set percentage of household income.
Tax Filing Note: The IRS reconciles the credit when you file. If you earned more than estimated, you may owe back part of the credit. We help clients think through this when estimating income so there are fewer surprises later.
CSRs lower your deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum. Only available on Silver-tier plans. If your income is between 100–250% FPL, a Silver plan with CSRs often provides exceptional value.
Free or very low-cost coverage for qualifying low-income Idahoans. Idaho expanded Medicaid in 2020, and we can help point you in the right direction if that looks like the better fit.
Low-cost coverage for children in families that earn too much for Medicaid but cannot afford private insurance. We help families understand whether marketplace coverage or CHIP makes more sense.
If you qualify for CSRs (income 100–250% FPL), a Silver plan is usually the place to start. We help compare whether that enhanced Silver value beats a cheaper Bronze option once the full picture is reviewed.
Step by Step
Idaho residents enroll through Your Health Idaho, and we help guide that process from start to finish at no cost. You do not have to figure it all out on your own.
We help you think through household size, estimated income, current coverage, doctors, prescriptions, and timing so the application starts off correctly.
Once Your Health Idaho calculates estimated subsidies or other eligibility, we help you interpret what those numbers actually mean and what they do to your real monthly cost.
We help compare available Idaho plans side by side — looking at premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, doctor access, and prescription coverage so you can make a better decision.
We help you complete the enrollment process correctly and explain the next steps, including first premium payment and when coverage becomes effective.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a federal law that expanded access to health insurance across the U.S. In Idaho, residents enroll through Your Health Idaho, the state's own marketplace. As a certified broker through Your Health Idaho, we help clients compare ACA-compliant plans, review financial assistance, and enroll correctly at no cost.
You may qualify for an Advance Premium Tax Credit if you meet income requirements, are a U.S. citizen or lawfully present immigrant, and do not have access to affordable employer coverage, Medicare, or Medicaid. Your Health Idaho calculates eligibility, and we help review those numbers and compare your real plan costs at no cost to you.
All ACA-compliant plans must cover 10 essential health benefits: outpatient care, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, prescription drugs, rehabilitative services, laboratory services, preventive and wellness services, and pediatric services including oral and vision care for children.
No. Under the ACA, insurers offering marketplace plans cannot deny you coverage, charge you more, or exclude treatment for pre-existing conditions. This applies to ACA-compliant plans through Your Health Idaho. Short-term plans are different and do not offer those same protections.
If you miss Idaho's October 15 – December 15 Open Enrollment Period and do not have a qualifying life event, you will generally need to wait until the next OEP for marketplace coverage. If you do have a qualifying event, we help determine whether a Special Enrollment Period is available and walk you through the next steps.
A CSR lowers your deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum. It is only available on Silver-tier plans and generally for households with income between 100%–250% of the Federal Poverty Level. If you qualify, we help identify that and compare whether a Silver plan gives you the strongest value.
Your Health Idaho is Idaho's own state-based marketplace rather than the federal HealthCare.gov platform. Idaho residents use Your Health Idaho for ACA enrollment, and we help clients work through that system as certified brokers here in Idaho.
HMO plans typically use a more defined network and may require a primary care physician or referrals, while PPO plans usually offer more flexibility at a higher cost. The better fit depends on doctors, prescriptions, budget, and where you live in Idaho, and that is exactly the kind of comparison we help people make.
